For just about any instrument, a key approach of mine is to teach students how to play the songs they love - and then the musical building blocks that make up said songs. Once we have become familiar with the neck of the bass we introduce Hal Leonards's Bass Method Book 1. This will build our foundation for learning to read time signatures, notes in bass clef, rhythms, as well as playing complete songs. One of the greatest honors of my life was spending 2 years training under Juilliard-graduate Charles Enlow while at SCC. Since leaving college, I have worked on-and-off as a beginner-intermediate voice coach and piano/guitar teacher around the greater Seattle area.
