When working with younger children, I use the Children's progressive method for guitar and for the older students I use the Hal Leonard guitar method books 1, 2 and 3. As my students progress, I supplement the lesson with songs that my students enjoy and want to learn. I also focus on ear training to help students musically hear what they are playing. Whether it's voice, guitar, ukulele, trumpet or recorder, hearing the music inside and being able to internalize the music is very important to becoming a well rounded musician. Read More

I believe strongly in practicing efficiently and relaxed.  For beginning flute students, I am to work on developing a sound, using Trevor Wye's Omnibus Books 1-5 and my own long tones: later moving on to scales and basic short pieces and etudes. I began playing the xylophone at age 7, from 11-14 I studied the cello and played in my school's orchestra (receiving high remarks) and at age 14, my ears opened up to the sound of electric guitar in all its possibilities to make music. Since then, I am committed to the guitar and have not found an end to its possibilities.
