I've always thought the best approach was to get the student playing the type of music or songs they want to the most, right from the start. Over the years I have found that as long as the student plays the style they're interested in, there is always an opportunity to implement the basics (or more advanced ways) to each lesson within a musical styles he/she is comfortable learning within and inspired by. I'm a professional guitarist with over ten years of experience teaching music to students of all ages. My goal is always to help my students to bring out the music within them in a fun way. I like to focus in very small theoretical and very big practical components to get the most out of every single bit of information delivered. My experience as a performing musician is very vast and covers a very wide range of styles, such as Blues, Rock, Pop, Jazz, Latin, Brazilian, Country, Funk and Fusion. Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2007, I graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano/Trombone Performance. Performing all over the world has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to play in Hollywood on American Idol, Hong Kong, Costa Rica, United Kingdom, Bahamas, Puerto Rico with the former lead singer from Journey, and many other places around the United States. Lessons need to be fun but at the same time the student needs to feel like they're making real progress. What I do is slow down whatever we're working on to a manageable pace for the student then slowly speed things up in a way that is comfortable for the student while at the same time providing new challenges and goals for the student to work toward. If the student is willing I also give the student the opportunity to perform live in front of their friends and family in real shows at real venues around town. Read More

When my father saw my interest in the guitar, he put me in guitar classes because as he said, I had to "learn properly". Soon after my first lesson I realized I didn't learn very conventialy, l. I just wanted to learn the songs that I love. Flamenco Guitar and singing is an art for passed down from father to son/daughter. This is how I teach. I get to know the student's soul for music and I deliver to them the ability to instantly express themselves. Read More

I have my own ProTools recording studio, and I record 10 songs from each book for students to learn to play by ear. I make a CD and give it to the student. The CD holds about 30 tracks on it, the piano tracks and my speaking voice on each track. I speak on the CD gently underneath the piano playing, for example, when there is an interval, I slow things down and the student will hear my voice in the background saying Interval, then the student will hear me play each note of the interval separately. For beginning students, I usually like to start with figuring out their goals. This can be anything from wanting to learn a song, compose music, or simply just figure out some chords to play at a bonfire or social gatheirng. From there we'll look at the fundamentals (what it takes to play a song), and work one step at a time introducing music theory and technique to make it more enjoyable and less confusing. Read More
