When studying with me, students can expect a comfortable and fun atmosphere that promotes experimentation and positive reinforcement. Employing a curriculum that is equal parts formal technique and informal playing of the students favorite music, I make every lesson engaging and exciting. After 3 to 6 months, beginners should expect to be able to play many of their favorite songs, have a firm grasp on basic scales, chords, theory and sight reading, and can even begin writing their own songs and improvising solos! I care about students achieving their goals and getting their own flow. I always do my best to inspire everyone and get them focused and ready to commit to their music. I encourage students to become greater at that, but always keeping the joy alive. Depending on the age, discovering everyone's potential is the key. I make sure student get excited for the next lesson and goes back to their instrument right after we finish the class. Read More

I'm very goal oriented with my students and flexible with their development. It is important to progress but also to take account of small achivements as much as large ones. Learning music is fun and the process should be fun through and through. Always emphasizing the positive aspects of a students performance and capabilities ensures a pleasant and fun experience for all involved. Read More

I began teaching piano in high school and continued into my college years. I then spent the next decade touring in bands and recording in some of the top studios in Los Angeles. I have worked with some of the best in the business including Rick Rubin, John Shanks, and Jason Falkner, just to name a few. These experiences have given me the knowledge of being a musician in the real world, which I try and impart to my students. Read More

I like to create a very warm, encouraging, relaxed and positive atmosphere for all my students. My teaching style is very much student-led in terms of goals and preferences. While I will create a general plan for each student to reach their particular goals, I never see my lesson plans as these rigid constructs that must be stuck to closely, and a guitar lesson may shift gears right in the middle of the lesson if I feel a student needs to spend a bit of extra time on one skill or concept before moving on, or if I find the student has picked up something much more quickly than expected, and we can move on to the next thing, or if the student asks a question that leads us to dive a little deeper into one particular topic that wasn't necessarily on the plan. I picked up my first guitar at the age of 13, and I've been addicted to it ever since. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2009 with a degree in Professional Music. I currently play guitar for international-touring Video Game Metal band Powerglove, as well as national-touring Progressive Metal band Lattermath. PowerGlove tours the US and Canada regularly with bands such as Dragonforce, mc chris, Symphony X, and Sonata Arctica. Read More

I have been a teacher for the last 7 years: having worked at after-school programs, I have learned how to understand the psychology involved in teaching and how to get students motivated but sparkling their curiosity based on their personal experiences. I encourage students to practice on a consistent basis for as much time as they can, but most importantly, I encourage them to listen. The art of listening is much understated in music education at times and is really what made a difference in my playing, so I like to include listening exercises that go along with technique in order for the student to develop a well-crafted musicianship.
