My teaching experience goes back almost 8 years ago. I had joined a worship band for the church and one of the guitar players asked me for lessons to help him better understand how to play in a band. I traveled to his home and several others by word of mouth. A few years later I launched my own private lessons out of my home. Continually my personal lessons, I then worked part time with a private music academy for 5 years. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I blend elements from various styles and methods to create a personalized learning experience for each student. This approach allows flexibility and adaptation to the student's interests and goals. I will often tailor my approach to meet the individual needs of each student, combining elements from different styles as necessary to facilitate learning and engagement. Read More

Ive been playing guitar for almost 15 years now. From small gigs to big venues, from using in ears and click to just playing by ear, my specialty is Pop, Rock, Metal, and Punk; but that doesnt mean that I cant play a country gig or Spanish/Latin American kind of gig. Feel free to reach out no matter the genre, and I may surprise you! Before teaching in California I've been teaching privately for the past 3 years in Minnesota helping students to achieve their goals with the instruments from playing and singing at the same time to playing full solos and gaining finger independence avoiding injuries and guiding them to a fun and challenging way of playing. My methods are specific to a student's goals. For beginners, I usually like to use Hal Leonard's Guitar Method series to get them reading music and playing guitar in the first (or open) position. Beginners need to learn fundamental music theory, such as the major scale and how to build chords. Intermediate students that already understand basic theory usually desire to learn the techniques and vocabulary specific to a certain genre. Read More

My teaching style is all about enjoying music and the instrument. I can pick up when a student is frustrated, confused or embarrassed and adjust the lesson accordingly. Overall, I want my students to have fun! I enjoy teaching how to read music and once a few notes are learned, I start applying it to songs that my students really enjoy. I also like to teach scales and harmonic structure so my students can begin to understand what's really going on in the music they enjoy. Read More
