I have been teaching privately since 2006. I specialize in jazz drum set, but I can teach all sorts of styles of music as well. In addition to drum set, I teach rudimental, marching and classical snare drum, classical percussion (mallets, timpani), afro-cuban percussion (congas, bongos, timbales), sight reading, music theory, and beginning piano. Maya studied upright bass performance at Berklee College of Music, where she earned a Berklee Merit Scholarship and the Bass Department Outstanding Performer Award and Scholarship. She played with the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra, with a highlight performance of Lord of the Rings Symphony at Bostons Symphony Hall. She tours nationally with Boston-based bummer pop band Future Teens.
