You will begin by learning chords you can play with one finger. That's as easy as it gets. Very quickly you will actually play songs on your guitar. Then we will use the same book to learn how to read standard notation so you can play the melody of songs in songbooks. I don't have to teach you every song you want to learn. My goal is to teach you how to learn songs on your own. Read More

The learning never stops. That is the beauty. It excites me every day that I wake up to know that I am going to learn something new today and add to my musical ability. No matter whether its a crazy jazz chord or a new scale or an idea for a new song, I have a foundation that all musical concepts connect to. I want to make others as excited as I am about music. My teaching experience dates back to my early 20s and my college days. i started teaching private lessons part time, for some family and friends etc, and have been teaching and meeting new people and students ever since. the number one factor in learning your craft is to dedicate yourself to regular and consistent practice or rehearsal into your schedule and stick to it if you want to be successful. and i will always encourage my students to maintain a healthy balance of rehearsal into your daily life. i can't emphasize this enough; especially the younger students, to build a routine, as it tends to really help the student progress and gain a passion for the their craft. i encourage my students to enter competitions and recitals, when the time is right of course.. as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. i am my own students resource and im always willing to help out anyone i can and im always looking to bring on new students of all ages! I began teaching lessons while in high school to friends and other students of varying ages. Having taught in several music shops, I currently teach students from my house or in their own homes, which is why Musika was an attractive company for me. My background in music and teaching spans a diverse set of styles, and I try to encourage students to broaden their musical horizons by introducing them to music they may not have otherwise heard. I'm a passionate teacher who loves to get to know my students and see them grow through and with music! In 2013 I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts in Music with emphases in clarinet and music education. As a high schooler I felt called to study music after playing a clarinet solo with my church handbell choir and have been pursuing music ever since then! I love how the fundamentals I have learned have enabled me to pick up and play many different instruments and genres, and I can help you do the same! Read More
