In addition to teaching material directly, I prefer to cultivate the skill of teaching oneself. Instead of scripting the direction of the students growth I help them to follow their own path by accentuating the qualities that make them special and removing technical roadblocks. My own education straddles many schools (rock, jazz, folk/bluegrass, classical, hip-hop, dance, experimental, funk, etc.), formal and informal. But standardized music education leads to standardized music! Read More

I began teaching lessons in college, but grew my studio while I was preparing for grad school auditions from 2010-2012. Most of my students at that time were beginner piano lessons and I love to teach young children. I also greatly enjoy teaching children with autism. I have had success in combining my music education and music therapy skills to help students accomplish musical goals while also addressing behavioral goals such as increasing verbal or nonverbal communication. I became the guitar studies director at the Bronx House Music School (during this period) and later became the Music School Director there, and the Music Director of the Mercy College Satellite branch (which offered college level music lessons and classes at the Bronx House Music School). While pursuing my Graduate Studies at MSM, I was a Special Tutor for both entrance and exit exams (history and theory) for the Doctoral Program; and taught guitar history literature, guitar ensemble, and guitar pedagogy (as a graduate assistant). (I also was employed there as editor-in-chief of the college newspaper, and thesis proof-reader editor for DMA theses (generally for foreign studentsalthough my skills therein were also sought by students at Juilliard, NYU, Union Theological Seminary, and Jewish Theological Seminary.) Since graduation, and while (primarily) pursuing my concert career, I have been Director of Guitar Studies (Cumberland College); Read More

I have a love for teaching students of all levels and ages. My specialty as a guitarist is in jazz, but I bring that love for improvised music to a number of other styles: blues, rock, funk, acoustic/fingerstyle, country, folk, ska, reggae, RB etc. I graduated from Duquesne University in 2013 with a degree in jazz performance. Pittsburgh is a great jazz town with a fantastic local scene, which was a very fun and nurturing environment for me as a student. Read More
