I truly believe music should be a fun and rewarding experience. It brings me great joy seeing my students progress in their musical abilities. I encourage students to explore their talents and discover what it is they love about their instrument. If students wants to compose and write music I encourage and help them. If students have a recital or a performance coming up, we will take time to fully prepare for the gig, wether it is a talent show or competition. Read More

My methods depend both on the experience and interests of the student. Generally, I hope that students acquire enough skills that they can begin teaching themselves. This involves basic technical abilities, understanding of the layout of the guitar, basic reading skills, ear training skills, understanding of music theory, and rhythm skills. I believe that once a student can begin learning on their own time is when real growth happens through practice. Read More

I always encourage students to study and practice on a regular basis. This greatly helps them make progress and like the instrument over time. Nonetheless, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. My homework sheets are designed to address both of those points. I always encourage them to practice well; when they practice well, they improved and once they improve they start to like the instrument more. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Voice
- As a foundation principle of the Functional Voice Method communication is essential. There should be a very open and honest dialog between teacher and student. You can, and I encourage my students to ask, propose and work together. - Because posture, movement and breathe have such a mutual influence; we usually need some work or excercise regarding the body (movements envolving legs, arms, walking, jumping and a large etcetera). - Having fun while training is extremely important to me. I have been playing guitar for over 40 years now, and have spent 6 years in guitar lessons myself. Three of those years were devoted to studying classical guitar. I have been teaching for over 12 years, and now instruction has becomethe main focal point of my playing. When I was 30 I decided to go back intoguitar lessons and study classical guitar. This was very challanging but made me a much better player all around. Read More

I have been teaching guitar since 2012 to all ages from beginner to professional level. The most notable student to date has won national level competition after eight months of learning the classical guitar and have been accepted with scholarships in top music schools such as Peabody Institute of Music and Rostock University of Music in Germany Based on my previous teaching experience, focusing on classical guitar and its pedagogical method helps the students to build strong techniques, sightreading, and phrasing skills which all can be all applied in other styles of guitar. Instruments: Voice
How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
Please understand that, for seriously practicing voice, there is a minimum age, typically. Too many parents push their very young child to get lessons early, so they can get a head start. However, a child below the age of twelve has a developing instrument, and the strain of seriously practicing professional vocal technique can cause harm, ESPECIALLY if this is a child trying imitate the low belting of pop singers or the big tone of opera singers.
That being said, on more than one occasion, I have provided voice lessons to very young singers, who have been gifted with powerful voices. But the reason was to save their instruments before they hurt themselves. I taught them how to sing beautiful music like a child, waiting for their instrument to mature, while also teaching them how to read music and understand more complicated musical techniques. So these students are "ahead" where it counts.
Serious vocal technique can begin after the voice change. This can happen as early as ten for girls, and as late as fourteen for boys. If you feel that your child has achieved their voice change, I can quickly assess that through a preliminary lesson.
Please be safe. Your child's voice is a delicate instrument and it can be harmed.
When will I start to see results?
There are no shortcuts if you truly wish to learn how to master the voice. It took me six years of study before I was able to perform at a semi-professional level, starting at the age of fifteen. It takes time for you to train the muscles in your body to react the way you want to on an instinctive level.
That being said, the effects of true vocal technique will start to improve your singing extremely quickly. Within the first two months, you will feel a difference in your posture, confidence, lung capacity, tone, volume, and agility. Students are encouraged to sing during the learning process. It is through repetition and practice that the muscles in our body learn how to act when we sing.
Do you use specific teaching methods or books? (Ex: Alfred, Bastion, Suzuki, Hal Leonard) Why did you choose them if you did?
There are books that exist for voice, though you won't find nearly as many, and they don't agree. This is because the human voice is the only natural instrument, and it isn't mechanical. You have to learn how to make your body do what you want it to do through trial and error, with a teacher who can hear what's happening on the inside.
Most of the materials I will use in our lessons will come from my own collection, which have been tried and true for decades, in not centuries. I have resources for learning how to read music, learning how to hear music, learning how to sing music in multiple languages, and learning how to maximize your range.
Depending on your needs, I may ask you to purchase some books. One of the best books for beginning students with a serious passion for professional singing is: Practical Method of Italian Singing - Vaccai.
