I've actually written and produced my own music theory book that was in all Borders stores before they closed down. I've learned a few methods and I try to incorporate them all unless the student or parents wants something specific. My method is a method where I can teach 1 thing countless ways. I love my students to learn theory because it is a very important backbone to music. Some people can play instruments without ever really kwoing what they are playing or understand the theory behind it, and I think it holds them back from truely being creative and understanding of music.    With my methods students will be able to play from any genre, any book, and hopefully will be able to create their own music. In May of 2016, I graduated from the University of Connecticut holding a bachelors degree in Music. At UConn, I took - and currently take private lessons with Metropolitan Opera bass-baritone Rod Nelman. My time at UConn was diversely beneficial, granting me opportunities to perform in operas, musicals, an a capella group, a marching band, and professional-level choirs that have performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall. I spent a semester taking classes with the Neag School of Education, working a teaching clinical in a nearby middle school, and a semester with the School of Business, studying entrepreneurship and managerial/interpersonal behavior. My teaching style is very laid back and comforting for students to progress at their own pace. I will always remind students to not rush and encourage them to have confidence within themselves. The most important thing for a musician to have is CONFIDENCE!!!!!! It’s important to develop that at a young age because it will make performances easier as they get older. I also use scales, picks, fingerstyle methods, and backing tracks to help get the students up to speed on a song or a riff they'd like to learn. It's important to understand the background of music, so I tend to also teach students the structure of a 12-bar blues progression and relate it to songs of yesterday and today.
