I excel at taking the most self-motivated students to the highest level, and I don't hold anyone back in order to stay with a pre-determined method. All students learn to count the beat in a FUN and entertaining way. I save the last few minutes of every lesson for "musical games", which are usually ear training. All of my students, even young children, can name strings, notes, and even chords by ear, all from playing this game. Read More

I let the student decide what the lesson is to be like. There are a lot of things to cover, but I will adapt what I think is the best teaching style for the student based on things like what he or she wants to learn. If you are interested in electronic music production, I can even teach lessons in Ableton Live. I am very well versed in all aspects of pro audio and would love to share and teach my knowledge. My teaching style is to help one discover a love for music. When I was learning, the best way I got excited was by learning through what I liked. That helped me get excited for playing music, and more interested in learning the complexities in music. By acknowledging what the student likes and their strengths, I can help focus them on how to reach the dreams they desire. I give my students a positive attitude with no judgement of their skill level. Read More

Hello! While playing music is one of my favorite thing in the world, it doesn't seem to compare to teaching others how to make music. I'm a University of Michigan student who loves producing and jamming out. I started my musical career at age 10 with the cello, but pretty quickly changed to the piano. My formal education is lacking, but I've spent the last 12 years learning theory and performance through books, articles, and lots and lots of trial and error. Read More

When Traveling home to Missouri for the summer periods, I would perform with the SEMO Regional Jazz Orchestra, Cape Municipal Band, and the Jackson Municipal Band. As a student performer I have made appearances at the International Trombone Festival, International Womens Brass Conference, Bands of America, Kentucky Music Educators Association, 3 NCAA tournaments, and the Elmhurst Jazz Festival. Post graduation, I have been freelancing between home and Austin, TX. I just wrapped up my band season with the Austin Civic Orchestra, Austin Brass Band, Austin Symphonic Band, and subbing for U.T. I've been teaching since I began high school when I started giving private lessons to my fellow orchestra members. Ever since I have constantly taught from my home and through various music studios. I emphasize not only regular technical practice but also the practice of independence in a student and bringing forward their original voice. I love to see students of any age develop as artists and grow a love for music as I have. Read More

I think that every student is unique. I tend to create a custom program for every student, based on his/her special talents. By special talents I mean student's psychological particularities and tendencies. Student can have a very good sense of rhyhm, for example, so I am going to give this student some pieces of Spanish composers, like Albenis or some rhythmical jazz pieces. Student might be very lyrical and romantic and emotional, so I am going to give him/her some Chopin or Schuber or Schumann pieces. Read More
