I have taught quite literally all ages. 5-75. Styles and lesson books used varied depending upon student and school. I usually taught Suzuki for violin, viola and classical guitar (tend to prefer Scott Tennant Pumping Nylon book for classical guitar though). And usually Faber Piano Adventures for young piano students. Eventually going to Clementi Sonatinas and Chopin Preludes. Also Mel Bay Modern Guitar for beginning rock/jazz guitarists. Then eventually going to Mickey Bakers Jazz Guitar books. Read More

I am a highly skilled and creative musician who is specialized in guitar, teaching and composition. I work with all ages and skill levels ranging from beginner to professional. I will customize student’s lessons to fit their goals and learning styles. I work at the student’s pace while encouraging them to practice and explore the instrument on their own time. I currently play in an R&B band, a rock band and a jazz band performing shows around greater Los Angeles. Read More

Hello. Sean O., here. I have been playing professionally for almost twenty years and am excited to be sharing my skills and knowledge, once again. I attended Kinder High School for Performing and Visual Arts, where I studied Jazz bass and music theory. My musical repertoire ranges from hardcore punk and metal, to pop, soul, reggae and blues. Playing consistently has also taken me across the country on tour and into some incredibly varied live venues. Read More

One of my first priorities in teaching my students is the emotional and intellectual connection and the discovery of their personal music favorites and match them in accordance with their interest, age, and level. for the beginner student(children), I usually use the Axford Guitar Method, which is one of the most progressive and easy-to-understand methods. It teaches them all the basics of classical guitar technique, with fun arrangements of popular songs that the children are interested in.As for the beginner (adults), I suggest Christopher Parkening Method which is a great beginners method book. Motivation is a key enabler of the learning process in my classes. I take great care to what motivates my students and make sure we celebrate the accomplishments that push them further. I make sure that students are also enjoying the learning process and are having FUN! I encourage students to try new things and have the experimental mindset that leads to success.I make sure that their passion is preserved and that they are productive and progressing in a smooth way.I take every chance to showcase my students work and achievements. My style is closer to the Russian style than to the American style. This tends to involve more discipline, an emphasis on focus and concentration, and a more direct communicative approach. I don't usually mince words, although I am very supportive and gentle. My students seldom suffer self-confidence problems, because we are always too concerned with improving ourselves. We identify and focus on the task at hand. This is not for everyone, but for those that prefer this style, there is no substitute. Read More

What gets me up in the morning and keeps me up at night? Music. Private instructors, fellow jammies (music collaborators) and the Berklee College of Music in Boston, all made me who I am as a teacher. I love the prestige of a successful lesson, to see the revelation of "cool" in the student and myself. It seems music was made for me, but also for anyone else who wants to learn. Read More
