I generally like to have students use a music curriculum book in addition to playing songs they enjoy.I recently created a custom music lesson book for guitar, called Suncho School of Music Guitar Method. This book reflects my unique teaching style, and I went out of my way to make it fun and relatable for kids, teens, and adults alike. I always find out what the student is interested in and what motivates him or her. Read More

My teaching experience started not too long ago despite me playing professionally for awhile. I decided to start up private lessons during the COVID-19 pandemic over zoom and discord because my day job at the time had laid me off. However, I quickly learned that upon being a private teacher, it was difficult to market and advertise for myself in the hopes to get new students as well as keep up with my professional commitments. One of my first priorities in teaching my students is the emotional and intellectual connection and the discovery of their personal music favorites and match them in accordance with their interest, age, and level. for the beginner student(children), I usually use the Axford Guitar Method, which is one of the most progressive and easy-to-understand methods. It teaches them all the basics of classical guitar technique, with fun arrangements of popular songs that the children are interested in.As for the beginner (adults), I suggest Christopher Parkening Method which is a great beginners method book. I have taught quite literally all ages. 5-75. Styles and lesson books used varied depending upon student and school. I usually taught Suzuki for violin, viola and classical guitar (tend to prefer Scott Tennant Pumping Nylon book for classical guitar though). And usually Faber Piano Adventures for young piano students. Eventually going to Clementi Sonatinas and Chopin Preludes. Also Mel Bay Modern Guitar for beginning rock/jazz guitarists. Then eventually going to Mickey Bakers Jazz Guitar books. Read More
