For younger students I like to start at the beginning; how to properly hold the instrument, how to tune the instrument, the layout of the fretboard (scales), a healthy repertoire of level appropriate music, etc. As students advance, however, I will introduce Theoretical concepts (Ear Training, Harmony, Modes, etc.) and a more detailed repertoire of music that the student is fervent about learning. No matter what age my student is, I will try to incorporate music they love, whether it's jazz, Hip Hop, Rock, or Pop. I have extensive knowledge of music theory and will make sure to cover chords, scales, and music notation while building familiarity with the instrument. Once the student starts to progress, I will start to teach songs/pieces of music one at a time. At first, it might be a simple four-chord song, and eventually the student will work their way up to something more complex, like a jazz standard. Read More

I love sharing music. It is probably our greatest gift as human beings, and the most fun activity. I run my own music camp and love nature. I have performed in jazz, folk, rock and original music bands as a first call session player and arranger. I also lead my own original music bands. I graduated Berklee undergrad in 2005 and have taught all levels and ages since then. I came back to the US to attend the first Master's Program at Berklee College of Music and I love sharing my knowledge with both beginners and advance musicians. Read More
