I like this method because it combines reading and playing the piano from the very beginning in a well-structured progression. Then it introduces important new concepts with fun (if charmingly old-fashioned) songs designed for teaching. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, we will begin learning songs and playing together. I am very big on learning by ear because it is the way I learned music most of my life.
