I tend to be very patient with students and understand that if they are not enjoying the lesson they will not learn or practice as much as they should. I try to get my students playing music quickly, once they are playing and not just practicing it becomes fun. I use small duo pieces that allows the student to learn a very simple melody then play along with me. This become quite enjoyable in a very short amount of time. Read More

My approach is focused very much on performance, technicalities, and theory. I believe it is very important for the student to understand how these aspects of playing coincide with each other, and how they are equally essential to music playing. Before giving a student a piece of music to play, I will always play it befoehand and dissect the song into portions that I feel need special attention. I encourage playing with other musicians, and always try to teach the art ofimprovisation, so that the students can learn to play not only by themselves, but with other musicians, using the musicial understanding that it takes to improvise. Although I have experience teaching both private, one-on-one lessons and group lessons in a classroom setting, I find that one-on-one lessons is the best way to learn. This allows students to go at their own pace and not have to feel rushed. Not to mention, it's way more enjoyable to learn when you have a patient teacher giving you support and motivation. I don't like to rush students because after all, most students just want to learn for fun. Read More

I've tended to and have taught around 250 different people since 2013. Although I've typically worked K - 12th grade students, I've taught older students in the range of their 40's - 50's. While working with School of Rock, I was an assistant band director, responsible for coming up with set lists for the youth band, teaching them the material and eventually having them play at a live venue after proving their proficiency. Welcome New Students! My name is Ivan and I love music. I believe I was meant to serve others through music. I was fortunate to graduate with honors from Berklee College of Music. I've performed in multiple stages in North America with both established and indie artists. My all time instrument has been the drumset but in the last 5 or so years have worked on learning and mastering guitar. I've recorded both at commercial recording studios as well as at my own home recording studio. Read More
