I typically start by first assessing whether or not the student has any prior experience in musical training, whether that be in a private instrument, music theory, or just some experience gained from taking music classes at school. From there I develop a curriculum tailored to both the student's current level of musical knowledge as well as what interests them. When teaching and assigning homework and repertoire, I like to offer a balance between what the student wants to learn and the essential exercises that will expand the student's musical knowledge, abilities and muscle memory. As almost any instructor will tell you, the methods I use depend largely on the student and their abilities. Younger students usually benefit from learning to read music and a beginning method book is usually helpful. I strongly believe that ear training is the key to musicianship so I use the material we cover in lessons to help students develop good aural perception. I know that understanding music theory is crucial for communicating with other musicians. Read More

My teaching experience dates back after my college years during the years of home private studying most musical instruments as I began teaching various instruments to group students at the christian churches. When some of my advanced students started to request private lessons, I founded College Music Lessons. I never have students who just can not understand their instruments. They took the first lessons; they ready for the next ones. Read More

My approach is focused very much on performance, technicalities, and theory. I believe it is very important for the student to understand how these aspects of playing coincide with each other, and how they are equally essential to music playing. Before giving a student a piece of music to play, I will always play it befoehand and dissect the song into portions that I feel need special attention. I encourage playing with other musicians, and always try to teach the art ofimprovisation, so that the students can learn to play not only by themselves, but with other musicians, using the musicial understanding that it takes to improvise. For beginning students I make sure we know every warm up exercise and stretching exercises for the fingers after explaining the importance of rehearsing properly. We will start getting familiarized with a couple circles until the student fluently knows how to accompany every chord. After we are going to learn scales so they also familiarized with licks and comp. After the student does fluently the exercises we will see what the student is mainly interested on learning regarding genre of music for it the process is full of joy. Read More

Throughout my many years of teaching, I've come across a variety of methods, some good and some bad. I know what methods are the best to achieve a students particular goals. Most of the time, I like to start my beginners by teaching them the basics which includes how to read music. Not everybody has to become an expert sight-reader but it's important to be able to identify the information on sheet music. Read More

My first year as a guitar teacher was back in 2003. Even though I was relatively young to teach, I had my own students coming in my newly created studio in Athens and I was sharing my enthusiasm with them as I was watching them being developed into experienced guitarists. I always loved Rock and Blues and, even though I received many lessons from amazing Jazz guitarists, I couldn't help but focus on these two styles. Read More
