I have been teaching for over 5 years. I began as a private lesson coach and have been consistenatly growing with students for around 7 years. As well as song and technical technique, my students and I also focus in on composition, songwriting, improvosition, discovery of sound and direction, and artistry. I combine both clossical and modern technique's and combine them into a personalized lesson and practice plan for the student. I find that building a personal plan with each student helps in building and maintaining the student's interest in continuing to learn. for beginners, as well as younger students, I start with showing the student how to hold and get sound from the instrument. I picked up my first guitar at the age of 13, and I've been addicted to it ever since. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2009 with a degree in Professional Music. With my youngest students I like to start note reading early to build a strong foundation. I often use the Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book 1, or the Christopher Parkening Guitar Method Vol.1 2. Depending on the student's playing style, we may use other books or handouts as well. I also teach with guitar tab or tablature, which can be an easier way to start learning songs and riffs.
