I began my relationship with much when I starting playing drums at age 7. I played in percussion in school bands for a few years then I found the drum set. I found discipline and independence through the drum set, and soon started learning guitar and piano. I attended Berklee College of Music for Contemporary Writing & Production, with a focus in Drumset performance. I actually have my own teaching method mixed in with the way I learned how to play guitar. I learned by learning basic scales and chord shapes. I try to be as interseting as possible so the student does not lose interest in playing. If the student has any questions. I make sure it is taken care of right away during the lesson. My favorite way to learn is my working towards a song that I love. I always ask my students what specific song they want to play, and then structure my lessons around the building blocks of that song: chords, rhythm, melody, etc. I understand that a lot of guitarists do not care much for the nitty gritty of music theory (especially for rock and such), and while I am admittedly a huge theory nerd I am willing to overlook theory for a more feel-based approach.
