I truly enjoy teaching Guitar & Bass as well as all aspects of performing and composing music. I believe that learning to play the Guitar or Bass should be fun and rewarding, and I have developed an exciting, multi-faceted approach to teaching. My method is based on the student getting a feel for the Guitar and Bass (even with limited information), developing confidence and being able to learn on his/her own, making it possible for them to make the decision on what direction to take their music. I think being well rounded is important with music and one thing that I've noticed is building on what the student is interested in. Started off with materials builds important fundamentals, but if my student is nodding off to sleep, then I'm not doing my job. I'll begin by setting a goal and seeing what the student is interested in (i.e. what band/song would they like to learn about?) From there, I'll set a realistic goal (Flight of the Bumblebee can't and shouldn't be the first song on guitar that you learn) and we'll learn the techniques, structure, and music theory that exists in a certain song. I teach to each students style of learning and thinking, and approach my job from a place of complete respect for the students. The most fundamental quality of my teaching style is my desire to make everything I teach relevant and personal for the students, so that they truly connect to what is being taught, rather than simply learning facts and assimilating information. My ultimate goal as a teacher is for my students to be complete, well-rounded players, able to approach any genre with a complete understanding of the depths of music. Read More

My start as a full-time multimedia teacher was with a company called Rivoli Music. I had taught 25-30 Japanese women... It got tight in places (language) but it was mostly pleasure having the students' Photoshop, Flash, then make FLV video with original soundtracks. I had enough experience after 8+ years of working and teaching to become a full-time teaching musician again... I loved showing my original work to the public (C.E.I.G.), and the public to the classroom to studies on how it was constructed. Read More

My number One thing is that it has to be fun learning otherwise the students get bored easily and disinterested so I always incorporate learning real music while you’re learning theory and carefully assessing the students strong points and trouble spots all the while giving them goals and consistent practice schedule And the critical importance of using a Metronome and having excellent timing. I want more than anything for it to be an enjoyable experience as well as a growth process for them and you continually push themselves to greater limits and I always stress the importance of practicing a little bit every day for muscle memory As supposed to spread out long practice sessions and I always give them encouraging words to help propel them to new heights, I also encourage them to bring any songs they would like to learn so that they can be playing with other fellow musicians and singers as quickly as possible Read More

In addition to partimento, I use other traditional methods. For beginner students who are children, I typically start with the James Bastien method. I like this method because it combines reading and playing the piano from the very beginning in a well-structured progression. Then it introduces important new concepts with fun (if charmingly old-fashioned) songs designed for teaching. As the student progresses, I like to use Hanon exercises for developing finger strength, and classical repertory for use in performance. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
