We will go through technique building exercises for right and left hand development, chord exercises, music theory, reading music and playing favorite artists. I teach each student different. Depending on the students level, pace , knowledge, strength, abilities , determination and goals. I do believe that understanding of music theory is necessary to advance beyond the intermediate level, and this system has assisted in training many students over the years. For example, classical guitar requires perfection of technique for good execution. This requires practice of scales, arpeggios and such. For beginning students I use the Bastien System. For Adults, I use The Alfred Adult beginner for Piano Lessons. I try to adapt the method to the skill of the student, which incorporates my own system, based on years of teaching. I teach according to the student;s skill, and at their own pace. I sometimes use the Trinity College of Music, london, syllabus. Classes consist of warming up exercises, then the student works on the music assigned and the Instructor gives it a grade. Read More

So, while I do want the students to be very proficient musicians, I am mostly concerned in helping cultivate the student's passion for music.
