My name is Tyler! I'm from Pennsylvania, where I learned music from an early age! I started formal percussion/drumset, piano, and guitar lesons at age 8 and I have not stopped! Music became my life shortly after then. I eventually left high school senior year to enroll in cyber school because I joined a pop rock girl-fronted band. We were very grateful to have toured the country playing under some of music's biggest bands every night. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice Cello

Creative lesson planing, student motivation and individualized approach are the most notable characteristics of my teaching style. I always try to find out what inspire my students and what they love and enjoy about music. I think the most important for the teacher is to develop a passion for music in his students. Read More

Of course, acknowledging accomplishments helps students feel they're progressing, but finding what truly inspires them will help them want to practice and get better. For me, I found scales and theory boring as a kid, so I wished my teachers would teach me how to play my favorite songs and write my own with a little theory mixed in instead of only learning the theory and scales. I aim to encourage my students to want to be the best they can be and to help them feel accomplished by following their dreams and inspirations. Read More

I truly believe that all learning, while serious in nature, should be fun and exciting in methodology. Living in the age of technology, there are so many ways to make learning fun and interesting for students. Whether it be sharing information from Youtube, educational sites such as The Teaching Channel, using digital music apps such as "Smart Music" for assessment, showing a student how to record themselves on their smartphones, all of these things can be brought in to the instructional experience. I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. This prevents him/her to fully understand and analyze the piece and lesson and it can also turn the student away from pursuing the instrument further.  Read More

Astrid H

Instruments: Piano Voice

I have 10 years of experience teaching voice. My mother is an opera singer and highly successful voice coach in Vienna, Austria and she not only was the best voice teacher I ever had, but also taught me to teach. Sharing my passion with other people has turned out to be one of the most rewarding things in my life. The joy, fun and often surprised looks on my student's faces when all of a sudden a beautiful tone comes out of their mouths, is just priceless! Read More

My first emphasis is that you have to like what you're playing. I really try to focus on what music gets the student excited. For some of them, it comes quickly. Others it might take a while, and that is okay. Once I find the switch that engages the student's interest, that is my focus. I really emphasize getting students to read music and also understand the key components of music theory, so that they understand what it is they are playing. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
