My mother was a professional tap dancer, in which would inspire me in the arts of dance-contemporary, latin and theater. As, I grew up after high school, I became active in cultural dance music participating in Carnaval parades-S.F., Afro-Haitian dance performances and community colleges music groups of jazz, spiritual and soul. I continued further to the Education of music and dance in colleges. After, graduation I returned to Stockton, CA, and began organizing music and dance programs in the community for low income housing projects, where I began a non-profit organization: Pan Afrakan Dance Music -instructing in African -and African-Caribbean Dance and Music community centers, after-school programs and festivals. I have been playing the guitar for about 13 years and have been teaching for about 4 years. My teaching experience began in college as I taught private lessons to other students and even some faculty. Since I graduated school, I began working in a music production and recording studio where I teach music lessons and help artists produce and record their own music. I am a very patient instructor who likes to bring in all sorts of knowledge and fun into the classroom! Read More

While in high school and college, I mostly tutored other students in history, chemistry, and math. However I worked as a private instructor for students learning violin and guitar for much of 2017. I was trained classically in violin in the Suzuki method, took rock/folk-based instruction in guitar, and learned brass and percussion through my high school marching band, which also doubled as a concert ensemble for half of the school year. No matter the skill level, I like to keep my curriculum concise, applicable, and easy for all students to understand. I begin with a crash course in music fundamentals to give students a classical understanding of their playing, reading, and writing techniques. Next, I teach them scales, chords, and playing techniques that correlate with their level of playing and music comprehension. Once they have mastered said curriculum I teach them songs that they are genuinely interested in. Read More

It wasn't until I was 12 years old that I really started to play and learn guitar, being further motivated by my brother who was just learning guitar himself. We started out learning songs by Metallica and Led Zeppelin. Later, I took a deep interest in learning blues, classical, jazz, and more classic rock like Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, Santana etc. After years of studying and practice, I believe I have a firm grasp of music theory, how to play different styles of music, and the ins and outs of guitar playing. My first job late in high school was to Lifeguard, and teach swim lessons. I also taught sports on weekends. I've worked with kids ranging from 6 months to 17, and also have worked with adults, and people with disabilities. I continued to teach, and work with kids for several years following. Times in between these jobs I began giving lessons to children I met through these programs I worked for that needed someone to give music lessons. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, and have been consistently teaching students ant homes and in my home studio in Antioch for the past 3 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
