My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been constantly teaching students in my home studio for last 3 years. Also I have experience teaching in a non- profitable organization " SLAM", where I thought middle school children. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the students progress and gain a passion for the instrument. As a teacher I can help you grow your abilities on your instrument. Help you achieve the cool warm sound you want from the saxophone. Help you get the dexterity on the instrument you need. And get a more broad understanding of how music is played and created. Throughout my career since I was 16 years old I have taught children, teenagers and adults from beginners to advanced levels. I hold a Masters degree in jazz, composition and teaching from The Rhytmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen and have also taught several courses there and at other distinguished music conservatories. Professional but fun. First we review the last couple of lessons, and then we do new- building upon what we have done earlier. Each student is unique, and I teach to them individually. I call it my Individual Music Program! I really get a kick out of seeing my students learn and progress along the musical staff, as the month go on., Often times I will get a brother and sister for lessons teaching them to play music together and become comfortable performing for family members and the public. To be honest, I never had a formal teaching experience as a music teacher since it is more like a hobby to me. I pursued a different career but music has always been part of my life and my burning passion for it never ceased. When I was a kid, I performed couple of piano recitals, and after several years, I eventually made my mom proud by playing the piano/organ in our church. Read More

For older students, I integrate a more disciplined routine and, as earlier mentioned, allow their goals and intrests to inform the lesson plan, writing out excercises personally. Generally the first third of the lesson is spent on fundamentals and warm up, the middle on the material we are working on, and something fun and/or new at the end (kind of like the scrimmage at the end of soccer practice). During my first meeting with a new student I ask them questions about their prior experiences, current knowledge, and musical aspirations. From there I tailor a unique learning strategy geared towards their goals, personality, and aptitude. I always try to use music that the student enjoys to spotlight the concept we are covering, and encourage the student to think about it while they listen to their favorite songs. The greatest payoff I can think of is when a student gets the immediate satisfaction that comes along with hearing an audience cheer for them after a good performance, and I do my best to curate these opportunities! When studying with me, students can expect a comfortable and fun atmosphere that promotes experimentation and positive reinforcement. Employing a curriculum that is equal parts formal technique and informal playing of the students favorite music, I make every lesson engaging and exciting. After 3 to 6 months, beginners should expect to be able to play many of their favorite songs, have a firm grasp on basic scales, chords, theory and sight reading, and can even begin writing their own songs and improvising solos!
