I've found that being flexible and adaptible is most important to me, as everyone learns in a different way. I place a lot of importance on following student interest and goals as well, since it doesn't matter how great your instruction is if you're bored and don't want to keep playing. I think every student should get as much out of their lesson experience as they want, whether that means a more casual experience where you're not practicing too much throughout the week, or holding my student more accountable if they express more ambitious goals. I introduce scales right away and each student usually has a technique book. I also incorporate games into lessons for young students to keep it fun. As students advance I introduce sheet music and music they like. For adults, there are a couple of chord method books by Alfred and Faber available and I use those unless they request something specific to work on. I may also write some of my own music, especially for learning note reading. Read More

I discovered my passion for teaching while I was a student in college. While at Berklee, I would return home from school and teach students at different schools. I worked(and continue to work) with a non profit organization that facilitated private lessons, ensembles, and masterclasses where I got to develop a skills as a teacher. Joy in sharing information that I learned while in school and seeing the impact that all my great teachers had on me as a student fueled interesest helping others to grow musically. Read More

I'm an enthusiastic music instructor based in Los Angeles, CA who loves sharing my love and passion for music with students. I was born and raised in the province of Cienfuegos, Cuba where I began my formal music education at the Elementary School of Music Alejandro Garcia Caturla at the age of twelve. In 2010, I graduated from the Music Conservatory Amadeo Roldan where I obtained my Bachelors' degree in Arts along with distinguished recognitions. Read More

Gabriel feels it is important to get out of the lessons what you want. So he does not have a set curriculum, and tailors each lesson to the student. He is very patient and presents material in an easily digestible manner, so we will move at your pace. He loves working with beginners and getting them off to a good start, just as much as he enjoys taking advanced students to the next level. Read More

My style of teaching seems to be very relaxed. I never force anything and I always want to give inspiration and motivation to the students. I get more pleasure and comfort knowing that this is something they want to do for themselves and not something I or their parents are forcing them to do. I think this also brings out the best playing and create motivation for the student. When I am teaching I give lots of support and even like to play along to give the student confidence and know that this is something that even I would do in my own practice. Read More
