I has been immersed in the wonderful world of music since 2009. I started my studies at the Conservatorium of Music of Carabobo, where I learned about music theory, harmony and history of music. There I began to fall in love with sounds, especially the sounds of bowed string instruments and started to learn Viola and Violin. My methods vary with the age of the student. For beginners who are children, I usually start with Alfred's Basic Piano Library, which I try to go through most of that series. During that time, the children will occasionally play anything they wish to play that is interesting or fun to them. I've performed in several orchestras at the college level and competed in a variety of fiddle contests throughout the state of Texas, most recently the Fiddler's Frolics in Hallettsville, Texas. I have been a volunteer after-school violin instructor in the Houston Independent School District (Roosevelt Elementary, Gallegos Elementary, and Martinez Elementary) and local Jewish community centers. I'm also very active in the Houston opera and theater communities and have performed in nearly a dozen productions in the area, often in small accompanying orchestras and as a soprano and/or actress. I only want my students to have a positive experience when leaving our lesson. I am constantly letting them know what they've done well, along with what goals we need to work on. I focus on the sandwich method, which is one positive trait, something to work on, then another positive trait. Everyone is different, so their learning pace is different as well. I do expect them to put at least some effort in at home via practicing (although I know things come up sometimes), otherwise it would be hard to find progress when they haven't practiced what we were working on. As their playing develops, I will make sure that beginner students have good posture and technique in order to fend off any bad habits that could develop later. For my more experienced students, I believe in working on equal parts technique and repertoire. I have been studying all aspects of flute culture since I discovered my father's old flute in a box when I was 7. I fell in love the first time I heard him play, and knew then that I would grow up to study music and perform. I began formal instruction in school at the age of 10, and quickly earned the top place in my beginners class. From then on I participated in the top ensemble of my middle and high schools, and went on to act as featured soloist for the concert and marching ensembles. Read More
