Instruments: Voice
I like to pack my lessons with information and fun. Typically my lessons are half warm-up, half working through music. In the first half, we address technique, breath, posture, placement, tongue and larynx position, etc. Because a strong foundation is the basis of good healthy singing in any style. In the second half, we focus on musicality, expression, difference in style, and your interpretation. This is where science meets art and you find YOUR voice! Read More

My method of working with drums and percussion is to first get a sense of what the student's goals are. These include both goals involving general drums/percussion and career/performance goals. We will then work together to form a plan to achieve them. This will include exercises tailored directly to the student's needs and desires within drums/percussion as well as overall musical standings and guiding the student to repertoire that will both be fun for them to play and will teach them more about the concepts we are working on. Hi there! I am a live-long musician. I consider myself a student as well as a teacher. I believe that music has the power to create powerful community bonds and connections. My lessons are tailored to this philosophy, exploring the music that really moves my students and imparts the ability to actively participate in musical communities as well as communities that transcend music. It's all about unleashing the creative joy inside of us and expressing ourselves through music. Read More
Instruments: Violin Viola
I started teaching privately in 2010 and have helped students of all ages prepare for their exams (grades 1 to 8), auditions and other performances. Most of my students are long-term students and have been learning with me for 3-4 years, with some up to 6 years. I take great pride in their success and they have had a 100% success rate in the ABRSM exams. In addition to teaching privately, I have also taught in various primary schools in the London Borough of Newham (including in Winsor and Park primary schools), teaching violin to small groups of students in Years 5 and 6 (4th and 5th Grade) to take steps 1, 2 and grade 1 in the ECAM programme created by the London College of Music and the University of West London. Instruments: Trumpet
Hey all you prospectives out there! I can’t wait to share my love for music and this great instrument with you. I have over 25 years experience playing gigs as a trumpeter, cornetist, pianist, composer, and bandleader (even as a singer once in a while). I started playing in the San Francisco public schools where I was fortunate in having excellent musicians around me and devoted teachers. I went on to University of Iowa initially as an undergrad admit to the Writers Workshop but also kept up with trumpet with David Greenhoe. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Voice
All students come with different strengths and weaknesses so I decided what needs to be done after hearing them. Basic technique is very important to consistently sing in any style. A singer must have stable, and consistent breathing as well as proper vocal balance. I have a substantial number of excursuses to begin training these aspects with a singer at any level. I structure the first part of a lesson as technical work and the second half as repertoire. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet
For young beginners on wind instruments, I really focus on getting a good sound out of the instrument first. Then, I have them learn simple songs by ear to strengthen their relationship with the instrument. At the same time, I will teach them how to read music if necessary. I like to use the Rubank or the Sound Innovations band method books to start with. For my piano students, I go over posture and hand position first, in addition to the basics of the keyboard and fingerings for scales. Read More
