For beginning students I tend to start with them learning the basic elements of the instruments and go over exercises that help familiarize them with the instrument. I then will start the student in the Hal Leonard's Essential ELements of books. After they have gained a grasp of the fundamentals I will start to focus more on the type of music they will learn. I'm open to teaching all ages, but especially like working with teens, as it seems there is a real excitement of learning the instrument at that age. I'm an enthusiastic instructor that loves working with students of all ages to further their love of music, as well as their skill and appreciation for their craft. I graduated from Southwestern Adventist University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music, with an emphasis in orchestral percussion performance, where I had many opportunities to perform with percussion and as a member of their elite choir, the University Singers.
