Lessons for young students (typically those twelve and under), an hour lesson consists of ten minutes of warm-up material (scales and rhythm concepts), fifteen minutes of content review (songs and concepts previously learned), fifteen minutes of introducing material or practice critique, and ten minutes of in-class practice. The last fifteen minutes of class is for theory building and notation comprehension (in vernacular, music-reading), and the last few minutes is for lesson review, where we discuss what we learned in the lesson and what the expectations are for the following week. I generally use the Alfred series for teaching piano. For teaching voice I may use a combination of books based on what style of music the student wants to focus on the most. For guitar, violin and clarinet, I use typical beginner books that introduce the fundamental fingerings, chords and notes for that particular instrument as well as basic music terminology. In addition, I sometimes create some of my own unique exercises and materials to supplement these books based on the student's needs. Read More

As noted before, I have had experience in performing throughout high school and college in the jazz band, often performing as a soloist. Other ensembles include performances with a jazz combo, jazz guitar ensemble, classical guitar ensemble, classical guitar quartet, flute and guitar duet, as well as a performance with the orchestra as the featured instrumentalist.
