I am a musician, composer, arranger, and educator originally from Waukesha, Wisconsin. I attended the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami from 2012-2016 and obtained a bachelor's degree in Studio Music and Jazz Instrumental on trumpet. I moved to New York and received a masters degree in Jazz Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in 2018. There is a theory book I like to use for older students who are later beginners or who have already taken lessons before and there is a Notespeller Book I recommend instead in the Alfred's series for younger beginners. If a student has taken lessons before and starts lessons with me I will see what books they have and if they are interested in continuing with those, or possibly changing to the Alfred's series, or ready to start branching off into more advanced pieces of music like classical, pop, rock and anything they like where we can get sheet music. Lessons are challenging yet fun. As students improve their skills, I find they usually enjoy playing even more than when they started. I try to find ways to make scales and tone exercises more interesting so students are more likely to incorporate these things into their daily practice. It is also important to choose repertoire that is the right level of difficulty so students are not bored or frustrated. When a student is struggling with a new concept or a difficult technical challenge, I can offer them many different ways to identify and then practice the issue. Read More

Handdrums: ocasionally i may bring over handdrums for a 15 minute session on how to play them! From there, I received a scholarship from Hampton University. While in attendance, I was the principal cellist. I graduated from Hampton University with a BA Degree in Music Performance with honors.
