For my teaching style, I always do my best to encourage. I love the technical side of music. I can never get enough of it. But obviously, some people are not like that and that is where my passion and emotion for music come in. Everyone has their idea of what music is. But I love to help people explore not what is, but what could be. Music-making is my focus. Read More

For younger students I start with showcasing what they can achieve with practice and perseverance. I do that by showing my playing. For adults I would talk about what are their interest and goal in music (genre, style, job, etc) and go from there. Read More

I have played violin since I was in 3rd grade. I got a cello and played that in middle school, as well as violin. In 8th grade, I auditioned for and joined the high school orchestra. I was also a member of the Gulf Coast Youth Orchestra. I have often attended various universities (I hold 3 degrees), and worked many different types of jobs, but through all of this I still enjoyed teaching violin on the side. Read More

I believe that it is essential for students to learn the music grammar and the learn the basic fundamentals, which are used by every professional, no matter what style of music they play. It allows the students to be in love with music and later play whatever they want. I tailor every lesson to the student's wants and needs. I try to find out what the student is interested in and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, and of course valuable for the student's progression. Read More

After college I played professionally in Nashville. Later I spent 3 years traveling full-time through out the United States playing trumpet in several different music groups. Following that I moved back to Nashville and played as a free-lance musician, including as a recording studio musician and contractor. Afterwards, I became a staff musician for Liberty Broadcasting Network. A large Christian Television Network. After 5 years I started my own concert ministry. I traveled again, this time on mostly weekends for the next ten years. Read More

For older children and adults I start with the two books mentioned, as well as learning to read and count rhythms as well as basic music theory knowledge. I then progress to learning the fundamnetal grooves of Rock,Swing, and other styles, just to introduce the student to a variety of vocabulary on the drumset. All the while I will encourage the student to lead me towards his/her interests. Read More
