Music inspires every human being in some capacity. Not everybody can appreciate all genres of music. While there are melodies and harmonies that are pivitol for creating a strong foundation as a musician, I prefer to work with the student in a genre that will inspire the student to want to practice. If there is desire to practice, the student will continue to grow musically. Therefore, I don't want to force a student to play Mozart when it might be the music of Bruce Hornsby that inspires the student to live another day and vice versa. Read More
Instruments: Piano Violin Cello Viola
I like to begin each lesson with a warm up to get the mind and fingers working together. From there we will focus on building technique, musicality, and theory knowledge while focusing on cello repertoire. To end each lesson, we'll break out something fun whether that means learning a new pop song, jazz piece, or playing a cello duet. My lessons can be structured based on the students needs and meeting their long term or short term goals. Read More

I like to tailor my lesson plans to the student, and their individual needs. For younger, new students, I like to teach technique, and classic songs, while teaching the early stages of theory, and music reading. For intermediate students, I like to drill scales, harmony, and sight reading techniques, to advance their own skills. If you are looking to apply to music school, I do prep courses on what to expect from the audition process, and what to look for when you apply. Read More

An Effective Teacher Needs to Practice What They Preach. A good educator must first have mastered their art and studied the principles underlying human development to fully understand how to teach someone the art of music. This goes far beyond replicating your musical history, or relaying what you think was the right path when you first learnt music. An Effective Teacher Needs To Stay Up To Date I try to stay up to date on the latest teaching resources and methodology An Effective Teacher Needs To Engage Their Students Hence, be open and willing to learn and teach new repertoire which engages your students. I take students into music they're interested in right away if they already know what they like. I love showing students how to work to learn, once they see how work pays off you can't stop them. I have my own Learn To Play Guitar book that I now use as handouts that have vocabulary, open chords, bar chords, inside chords, along with major and relative scales. The handouts are in color and done with a graphics program so they're not handwritten. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I really love working with students and having that I get it now! moment. Ive studied with vocal coaches myself since I was nine years old. Vocal health is a huge part of my practice. Our voices are very delicate and should get the most caring treatment as we use our lovely built-in instruments! I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2020 and am so grateful to study with some of the best teachers. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Voice
For all my students, I first ask the question: why are you taking vocal lessons? I want to know first and foremost my students' goals and what they like/don't like about their singing voice. Then I start with the basics: what is happening in your body when you sing, and why? First I like to start with singing easy 5-tone scales to discover the students' voice type, then I talk to my students about what makes their voice special. Read More
