I have been teaching for over 20 years.  My students have won many awards including college scholarships and the talent portion of Ms. Tennessee. I have taught all ages and all experience levels. For beginners I focus mostly on creating a solid tone, building the muscles around their embouchure for endurance, flexibility, and ear training. I typically will start working with students out of Book 2 of John Kinyon's Basic Training Course for Trombone. Eventually, I will introduce the student to more of the typical etude books like Voxman's Selected Studies, Arban's Famous Method for Trombone, and Joannes Rochut's Melodious Etudes for trombone. Once I feel a student is ready I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for the student's skill level and as my studio grows I hope to have students working together in small ensembles and perform in a recital. I have 12 years of classical training on the violin, 8 years of classical training on the piano, have taught private violin and viola lessons to more than 300 students over the course of 6 summers through the Hempfield School District, participated in the NAfME All-Eastern Orchestra, performed for a year as the bluegrass and old-time fiddler in the Joe Hillman Band (Philadelphia, PA), performed as the celtic fiddler in The Ogham Stones (Lancaster, PA) for one year, and have led my own band for 2 years as a singer, songwriter and guitar player.
