While there is no "One-size-fits-all" for all students, I start most students off with Essential Elements or Suzuki. As they progress I try to include pieces they like, pop songs, and different genres. The variety helps them stay engaged, learn a bit about different styles to broaden their knowledge, but also, have fun. As they get intermediate levels the paths diverge. Each student has a reason for wanting to take lessons and incorporating that into the lessons will give the student more drive to practice.
