I then went on to get my MM from Bowling Green State University in Vocal Performance with an Opera Concentration. I have also spent time studying language and opera in both Italy and Vienna. When it comes to my teaching style, it is important for the student to learn at their own pace.  I will set goals for my students based off of how he or she learns so that they can progress in a way that is comfortable for them.  I will never push the student to where he or she is uncomfortable and become discouraged and lose interest.  I also encourage the students to ask any questions that they have and that should never feel embarrassed about their questions. I try to balance the needs of my students and work to strengthen their musical weaknesses for example working on Vibrato or bow distribution. Usually, I like to spend 10 minutes warming up both hands with long tones, scales, arpeggios, and other fun exercises. During the next 30 minutes, we tend to focus on fixing issues relating to the music such as rhythms or intonation issues. I began teaching private lessons part time about 4 years ago. In 2015 I began teaching at Larkin Street Youth Services, a drop in center for homeless youth in San Francisco. For beginners the first sound is the most important basic thing for a horn player (woodwind or brass). For children I use easy melodies they remember. This is helpful so they won'tget bored or tired easily. There are important transitional mechanisms in the clarinet especially that have to be overcome before starting with the scales studies.
