I have worked with many students on different levels. I teach beginners how to hold and tune guitars and then how to play basic melodies. I believe that it is important to jump right in and start playing, that was how I learned. Students at this beginner level will learn how to play melodies on 1 string. Later as they progress I start to show them basic chords. For the intermediate level students they learn how to play scales and chords based on the CAGED method. Read More

I'm a versatile drummer/percussionist who loves teaching and sharing knowledge about music and arts in general. Graduated from Berklee College of Music with a full scholarship I've been performing and recording around the U.S for the last 4 years. Performances has always been my principal interest but currently I'm deeply involved with teaching because I have been developing a new way of learning instruments based on a more conscious state of mind involving meditation, all this thanks to my studies in Qi-Gong (Chinese Art of Movement) Read More
Instruments: Trumpet
In college, I started giving out lessons to Music Education friends who were learning trumpet for their brass profiency. I also gave some lessons to a friend who had no prior brass experience, and that experience was the main point in how I developed my beginner lessons. While rehearsing and practicing, I make sure to make exercises and the "maintenance" portion of trumpet interesting. Also, while in colle, for 3 years I worked as a Teacher's Assistant for a high school big band. Read More

In addition to drum set, I also teach djembe (West African), bodhran (Celtic), doumbek (Middle Eastern) and conga (Afro-Cuban). My favorite thing about teaching is watching students develop into creative musicians and finding their own voice. My playing and teaching has always been based in tradition, but not bound by it. I have found that keeping a relaxed, fun atmosphere during lessons allows students to learn at their own pace. Read More

After teaching for 12 years I don't have a fixed method. I have categories of students, from children who are trying to function in a band setting, to children who are trying to develop a musical or compositional talent. I take particular joy in teaching adults who believe it is too late to achieve levels of technical proficiency that would make them proud. My journey from classical music to jazz through pop, swing, rock, soul and folk has taught me how to blend in with any style, and my classical education has given me the necessary toolbox to communicate about advanced theoretical concepts with students who are interested. It was so hard for me to leave my students in Miami. We had such a great bond filled with motivation, discipline, and passion. Pushing people to achieve what they once thought was impossible is a blessing. To teach another human the gift of physically producing music is a gift. I am ver patient but firm. I like to learn while having fun most of all. I love to play and incorporate live musical interactions with my students. Read More

I started teaching in high school, and I've been teaching consistently for the past 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn.
