I started playing the violin when i was 5 years old, I went to Hamilton Country Day School in Attleboro MA as a child where violin was part of the curriculum. I was lucky enough to be the Concert master in the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in the Prep Strings section when i was 10 years old. I was born in 1991 and started playing drums shortly after that. Growing up in Detroit Michigan I fell in love with sound and was exposed early to many different styles of music. Studying music from a early age I went on to attend Berklee College of Music on Scholarship where I received various awards and performed with many of my favorite musicians including George Garzone, Bob Gullotti, John Lockwood, Doug Johnson, Aaron Goldberg, Joanne Brackeen, and many more. The vast majority of my teaching has been peer-to-peer helping my fellow band mates to get to the next level. So many talented musicians start playing by ear but never get the break-through of understanding "all that jargon and lingo." I have helped each and every fellow musician that I have worked with to better understand the theory and frameworks behind the music so that they could craft better songs and better understand the ones they were covering. I also worked as a School Aged Child Care Leader at Sandburg Elementary School from 2015 to 2018, further honing my skills in working with children ages 5 to 11. In 2019, I attended Marrowstone Music Festival as a Fellow. This gave me the opportunity to mentor high school and undergraduate flutists individually and during sectionals and to coach a student wind quintet. I am a younger instructor who is very excited and passionate about the inter- and intra-personal aspects of music and teaching music. First discovering my love of performing and problem solving through chamber music, I have since received a dual degree from UMass Amherst in Music and Social ThoughtPolitical Economy, and I am now pursuing my Masters of Music in Cello Performance at Boston University. I keep my lessons low pressure and laid back. This is a fun hobby for my students and I try to keep it that way! At the same time, I work with the student to set goals to keep them accountable and making progress. I don't make students perform in front of anybody else unless that is a goal of theirs to work towards. Depending on the student's level, having me playing along with them at times is also something I use to help the student feel more comfortable. Read More
