I played keyboard on the worship team for several years and some youth students showed interest so I would teach them every now and then. I have been teaching for over 30 years, and I love working with children. Regular practice is important so that students can see progress and reap the rewards that come with it. I meet the students where they are at, trying to work with their particular style of learning. My lessons are based in classical music, but we learn many different styles of music as they progress. I teach step by step and build slowly so the student learns discipline and also become well balanced in music vocabulary. The students starts off in lesson books with an assignment book to help with consistency with daily practice, as the students mature we can also play the "cool" songs! I earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in 2008 and 2009 in Euphonium Performance and Music Education from the University of North Texas while studying with the renowned Dr. Brian Bowman. While there, I advanced to the final round of a United States Navy Band audition. From 2010-2019, I served as a band director in three different school districts in Texas; now I teach private lessons full-time in the North Dallas area.
