I am a recent graduate from the University of North Texas where I obtained a masters degree in organ performance. I am currently a church organist and have been playing the organ since the age of 16 and piano since the age of 12. I have had many performance opportunities both as a pianist and as an organist performing as a soloist and as a collaborator. For my beginner saxophone students we will start by assembling the instrument and using the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements to learn the basic fingerings and songs. As for my beginner piano students we will start off with the Faber Piano Adventures book and work our way through the lessons. I typically use the Applebaum String Builder method books, and supplement with solo pieces as needed. I encourage regular practice, as students who feel they are progressing and doing well tend to enjoy their instrument more. As they become more advanced, they are encouraged to start giving opinions on what they want to learn.
