Typically, I like to start every lesson by spending some time working on specific vocal techniques. Good fundamentals are very important - developing good singing habits while getting rid of bad ones is key to consistent improvement. I believe that as a teacher, the best thing I can do for a student is to give them the tools to succeed outside of the lesson. We also spend time practicing musicianship skills, which means time spent on ear-training and learning to read music. Read More

As stated, I have taught students of all ages, from pre-K to adults. I first began teaching while I was in college and have taught ever since. While most of my career has been spent teaching privately in fine arts academies and in students' homes, for the past 7 years I have taught high school choir in Keller ISD. I love to see my students succeed and have those "aha!" moments when their individual practice begins to pay off. Read More

The Piano Adventure Series is great because the song arrangements have tiered piano proficiency for beginner to intermediate players. After students work in these books, other repertoire can be added to perform for holidays and recitals. For trombone students, I first make sure my students make characteristic sounds and introduce music to meet their playing level. Read More
