Instruments: Piano Flute Piccolo
No matter the level of the student, I think it is important for them to have achievable goals to work towards. I like to have my students always preparing for something, whether it is an audition, recital, or competition. We do this by working on a combination of solos, etudes, fundamentals, duets, and sight-reading activities. I like to make sure that whatever we are working on is at the right ability level for the student and challenges them appropriately. Read More
Instruments: Clarinet
No matter what age, any starting clarinetist needs to understand the fundamentals of the clarinet. Once these fundamentals are acquired, we move on to the basics of reading music and playing the clarinet such as learning the circle of fourths and practicing pieces of music that is from a certain major scale. Ear training and music theory will also be involved in each lesson to understand music further. Each lesson is fun filled and packed with many activities to motivate my students to love music and have a passion for playing the clarinet. Read More
Instruments: Piano
My earliest teaching experience was in my senior year of high school. While in college, I was required to do some student teaching, and this gave me a tremendous amount of insight into how best to approach being a music instructor. Since graduating, most of my musical experience has come from playing and directing choirs at churches, schools, and theatres, but I have continued teaching and enjoy learning different methods to share with my students. Instruments: Piano Voice
This ensures students develop a comprehensive understanding of music. Progressive Learning: Lessons are structured progressively, starting with simple melodies and chords and advancing to more complex pieces and techniques as students gain proficiency. Creative Exploration: In addition to classical repertoire, I encourage exploration of different musical genres and improvisation. This fosters creativity and allows students to develop their own musical style. Technique Development: Focus on hand positioning, finger dexterity, posture, and dynamics ensures students play with clarity, expression, and control. Read More
Instruments: Drums
Drumming is all about repetition, and without that, drumming (and every instrument) is hard to learn! I have between lesson plans for all levels. After the first lesson, I get my students the book "Stick Control for the Snare Drummer" by George L Stone. I consider it essential for students to have great control of their hands and sticks before we really get to harder material. All lessons are taught with a metronome, and we up the tempo as we go. Instruments: Guitar
I am a fun and very versatile guitar instructor who loves taking a student to the next level with their guitar in which ever style they may be interested in. I just recently graduated from the University of Arkansas with a guitar degree in Jazz and Classical with a minor in German. I was the lead singer/guitar player for a Blues/Jazz band in highschool and played with a few local band in Fayetteville, AR where I went to school. Read More
