My teaching style is light and fun and geared to the temperament of the child and the specific goals of the parent. My methods are traditional pedagogy. With younger students under the age of 5 and special needs students I make use of tactical manipulatives for example play doh to assist with fine motor skills. My biggest reward is seeing my students passionate about their voice, their instrument, their music. I focus a lot on understanding music from the piano so I feel very happy when they can demonstrate good musicianship skills in challenging settings. For this to happen I usually set up small objectives for each class and help them set new goals during their own practice time that will allow continuous improvement during our next lesson.  For example, being able to sing a 3rd with just playing the tonic or dominant notes. My teaching style is relaxed and encouraging of every student. No student should be made to feel less than, regardless of what experience level they are bringing to the studio. Respectful interaction and gentle redirection has served me well when working with students, even when they become frustrated. I believe that each person has a unique set of skills and characteristics through which he or she acquires knowledge, maintains and improves the acquired knowledge, and uses it to his or her benefit. Therefore, although I do have a system that I follow, I attend to the specific strong and weak points of each student. With an intense focus on character study, I've performed lecture recitals and partial roles of Baby Doe (The Ballad of Baby Doe), Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Blondchen (Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail) and Musetta (La Boheme). I've performed these roles and in concert at stages like Carnegie Hall, The Kimmel Center, NJ PAC, Provincetown Playhouse, Frederick Loewe Theater, MPAC and Roxbury PAC.
