Instruments: Piano Violin Cello
My teaching originated in high school when I taught a few beginners the wonderful basics of the cello. I've now taught for over 15 years and have brought all students of all levels to new heights. When teaching, I explain what it is that I do when I play and how to learn this. Just performing would not allow me to share my insights from years of my musical journey. Read More

In music, students are likely invested in music in their personal lives and therefore, connections can be made to drive concepts home. When music educators understand and nurture the overall learning experience of their students, a well-rounded and holistic educational experience unfolds. Lastly, I believe that student engagement is crucial. If the students are not attentive and involved in the content that is being delivered, it is unlikely they will gain knowledge. Read More
Instruments: Voice
I usually build the lesson goals individually with each student by getting to know each other. One basic goal in all lessons though is to develope passion for music and for the human voice as a music instrument. Read More
Instruments: Bass Guitar
As a bass teacher, I like to identify what the student needs to improve on and find the way to get them to have that "aha moment", whenthey figure out that they can play anything as difficult as it may be with the right guidance and the right tools when practicing. We will also learn the language of the style(s) that the student wants to learn through reverse engineering or transcribing which also improves their musical ears. Read More
Instruments: Flute Recorder Piccolo
For beginning students who are children, I typically start out with Rubank Elementary Method for flute or piccolo. For very young students who have never read music, I would begin with flute posture on a special Suzuki flute if the student is smaller framed. Blowing and embeshure is of utmost importance the first few weeks and I will have students practice blowing into a bottle and only the head joint of their flutes. Read More
Instruments: Piano Keyboard
All teaching methods are different which is why I prefer to stay diverse and open to the preferences of the student. Being familiar with nearly every genre of music, I’m capable of teaching any style the student is interested in from movie scores, to broadway show tunes, to gospel, and modern, etc. Of course my favorite style and the one I recommend is the classical curriculum which I usually try to implement with each student as it has shown the best results in the past with students of all ages. No matter what age, or skill level, I always bear in mind, that no two individuals, are the same. Taking that into account, there is always an evaluation performed to gauge competency of the instrument and knowledge of music theory if you're not a beginner. If the student is a beginner, I always start with the basics, music theory, parts of the guitar, maintenance of the instrument. As someone who not only plays guitar, but also buys, sells, fixes, and builds guitars from scratch, I provide a full course of how to play, to how to build one from a kit or from scratch if desired.
