Often there are students with previous instructors and I have no trouble picking up where the student left off. I can recommend books or a series as well as supplemental skills practice books. For beginner children, I like to use the Suzuki Method. For adults and intermediate to advanced children, I use a combination of books from different authors e.g. Taffanel Gaubert Flute Method, Marcel Moyse books, for technique development and also many pieces from the classical repertory. I also let the students choose pieces of any style that theyre interested in playing and they can handle.
