Instruments: Bass Guitar

I believe in teaching the basics first and working on technique and just being able to play the instrument before anything else. Most people learning guitar (bass or otherwise) want to start rocking right away, and I think that's great! It's a less "academic" instrument than playing the piano or harp, so I don't see the problem with that. Also, it's your money and I want to see you satisfied :) It is important to know what notes you are playing, especially if the student wants to play with other musicians, so that is a must, as well. My teaching experience just began naturally I didnt took any lessons at all or any formal. Self taught and youtube ofcourse. But its more on experience, trial and error and mistakes. And a lot of inspiration from a lot of artists locally and national. I am not the teacher who teaches super technical but more on inspirational and reality about playing. I love to teach all that I can help to a student. Read More

Seeing my students develop thier own love for music is something that thrills me to my very core. If I have helped a student convey who they are through music, and have them become excited to share that with others, I have done my job well. I will work with each student to set goals for their piano career, and seek to find out what drives thier passion and love for music so that they can be fulfilled.I will talior my teaching style fo fit each student's needs Each student is challenged to practice a minimum of 4-5 times a week 30-60 minutes for each time because practice inspires passion. Instruments: Trumpet

Although I have not had any official students, I have taught a handful of my fellow peers throughout my years as a trumpet player. I have learned a magnitude of techniques and different approaches from the numerous and excellent trumpet teachers that I have taken lessons from and I hope to relay some of this information to my own students as well as my own ideas and thoughts. The most important thing that I have learned from taking lessons for over 6 years is that in order to be a great teacher you must be a great learner. Read More

My experience teaching music goes back about 8 years ago when i graduated from High School. Going into college, i began takin on students whom were eager to learn or had an interest in playing music. Seeing how music has had a profound effect on my life, i began to have a passion for mentoring others. For any student, i would recommend they plan out a consistent practicing plan. Instruments: Lute

What is your favorite style/genre of music to play and why?
I really love to play music from the Early Renaissance and Late Baroque with everything in between! It is beautiful and thoughtful music. The satisfaction of refining your interpretation is the greatest feeling.

If you play more than one instrument, how did you decide to start playing the second? (Or 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc)!
The natural love of the Music really compelled me to venture out to New areas. This is how I picked up the handful of Instruments that I try to play well.

What does a normal practice session look like for you?
First, my practice plan of selected music. Then, a warm up that is based on the given music, both for left and right hand. From there, the music is addressed phrase by phrase as to create smaller pieces of music within the music.

What do you think is the hardest thing to master on your instrument?
Many Lutenists and Guitarists would agree that consistency of articulation is their premier nemesis! The ability to play in a way that is accurate and meaningful is always the most important and most difficult aspect of playing.

Have any of your students won awards or been selected for special honors? How have they succeeded?
Indeed, many of my students went on to win competitions such as the Young Talent Award, Classical Guitar Summit Championship and Musician of the Year (Junior College)

What musical accomplishments are you most proud of?
I have been fortunate to tour this beautiful country several times, playing in all states (aside from Alaska & Hawaii.) My accolades and monetary gains are very meaningless in the shadow of all the lovely people and country I encountered during those years.

Why did you choose your primary instrument?
I was very drawn to plucked Instruments my whole life, really. The Lute, my primary Instrument, is basically a time machine or window into another world of absolute grandiose and beauty. I was drawn to it's gentle and bell like quality. It just felt so true and mysterious.

Did you have a teacher that inspired you to go into music? How did they inspire you?
My mentor and dear friend changed my life and view of music. His name is Andreas Martin, and he is the finest musician I know. Although I met him later in my career, it was as if I was renewed musically, setting off on a new journey to Ithaca!

When will I start to see results?
The results, provided the student utilizes the advice and directions given, May be seen nearly immediately. The first two lessons are meant to inspire and offer a clear, fun path to musical success.

How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
I like to advocate that when the initial interest and ability to hold the Instrument occurs - it is time. Generally, this is about the age of 7. However, you, the parent, know your child and when they could confidently approach a fun lesson with the ability to retain the information.

What advice do you have about practicing effectively?
Having a structure and interior vision of your goals is really important. Playing music appropriate for your level is key, and moving on when needed is sometimes hard to do. I believe this is where a tutor can be immensely helpful. In that regard, practice should be just that - practicing the necessary techniques, fundamentals and observing the correct hand postures are imperative.
