For beginner kids, I typically use the Liela Fletcher Lesson Book series. I find that my students usually progress faster with this series. For teens and adult beginners, I use the James Bastien "Older Beginner Series or John Thompson series to get them started. For adults I find out what they're interested in and instruct accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and always fun no matter what.
