I try to get the student into actual repertoire as quickly as possible and like to use familiar folk tunes as a gateway to more traditional classical music. I graduated from the University of Southern California twice, earning both my masters and bachelors degrees from the Thornton School of Music in vocal performance. Often, if they are struggling, I'll tell them to say something like, "I can do it" aloud a few times. I began teaching music in 2006 while still in college, and I have worked at a variety of different music schools and teaching companies, most notably at the University of Southern California. I taught and maintained a small voice studio of my own in New York City for four years before the pandemic forced me back to the west coast to care for my family.
