I am a Highly trained student of “ Belle Canto” singing. This is the study of classical voice focusing on beautiful tone and fluidity in all styles. I sang and still sing rock and jazz regularly. Using this study of voice applies so perfectly to all of these styles as well as most styles that we enjoy in the western world. For my younger students I prefer using the Faber method books as well as "A Dozen A Day" for finger technique and dexterity.  For intermediate and older students I introduce repertoire pieces in addition to leveled method books by Alfred. As my students progress I introduce classical pieces as well as suitable pop pieces based on their interest My older and adult students tend to be more goal oriented in their learning so lessons are developed based on their in individual needs. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 1992, I graduated from Baruch (CUNY) with a degree in Applied Music. I have performed in Nashville and in New York City which has been one of my greater experiences as a musician, and I have had the opportunity to play at Jazz and Country Western clubs. We also begin work on scales and cadences. Since dexterity and interest in exploring the keyboard usually exceeds note-reading ability. I use a chart to spell out scales and chords instead of a scale book at this point. Students enjoy progressing through the songs and ask for new scales. By the time they've completed "Teaching Little Fingers...." and have learned single-octave C major, A minor, G major and E minor scales, we're ready to move on to John Thompson's First Grade Book.
