I began playing the clarinet at the age of 12. My primary clarinet teachers were Jack Fisher, William Holman, Thomas Ridenour, Carmine Campione, Brian Moorhead, and John Yeh. I earned my B.M. and B.S. degrees from the University of South Florida and my M.M. degree from DePaul University. I have performed, and still perform, with many orchestras throughout Florida including The Florida Orchestra, Naples Philharmonic, St. Petersburg Opera, Sarasota Opera, Southwest Florida Symphony, Orlando Philharmonic, Brevard Symphony, Space Coast Symphony, and the Walt Disney World Candlelight Orchestra. Once they understand how it make sounds, we slow work on refining and controlling so we can actually learn to play! Older and more experienced students will learn how to make Music, not just playing the notes on the page. A lot of time goes into understanding musicality, so we will often listen to recordings, play together to find different way to express musical ideas, and take time to really understand and comprehend different music genres. These local children reminded me of myself when I was younger and strived to study music with a financially-difficult background. Helping these kids really was the highlight of my day as I could see how music has helped them grow. I will always feel grateful and excited to give back to my communities through what I do.
