Alben began studying classical piano at the age of 7 and guitar at the age of 15 at the Rhode Island Philharmonic School in Providence, RI. At the age of 14, he began studying under Dr. Irina Tchantceva, participating in various festivals and competitions around the New England area. In university, he studied under Dr. Sandra Hebert and Dr. Ralf Gawlick for performance and composition, respectively and graduated from Boston College with his B.A in Music with a concentration in Performance and Composition, as well as a degree in Political Science in May, 2019. My teaching methods are relatively universal. With younger students, I focus more on learning to have fun while learning about their instrument at the same time. The more fun they're having, the more likely they are to stick to it. For adults, I keep this same philosophy in tact, but incorporate more technique, theory, and performance practice into our sessions in order to facilitate the learning curve. TashaRenee was 3 years old singing her first solo, “God Is”, at church and she hasn’t shut up since. She says “singing is just a part of who I am."  TashaRenee is a great eclectic vocalist that has been singing all of her life.  Although she has gospel roots, she decided to learn more about music as an undergraduate and graduate student in the Music-vocal performance degree programs.  She has been a part of several casts in Operas across the nation, with her professional Opera debut being the Strawberry Woman in Porgy and Bess in New Orleans, Louisiana.
