I base my every teaching style according to what the individual student needs . Teaching a class of 60 students is much different than a one on one class. No two people are the same and so they should not be taught the same exact way. For ex. Some students are very driven and need to learn control- to slow down and learn awareness, rhythmic sensitivity. Conversely, students who lack conviction and confidence need to listen to classic recordings to gain inspiration , drive. Read More

I have a love for teaching as well as for learning, and am always sudying something new. I have experience performing in a range of styles, from classical to jazz to rock and pop to bluegrass. After graduating from Reinhardt University, I took contracts on cruise ships, playing electric bass in show bands and orchestras on Carnival and Princess cruise lines; this gave me the chance to see much of the world, as well as the opportunity to perform challenging music nightly. My number one goal is to help my students accomplish their musical dreams, whether that be a classical pianist, a pop singer, the front person for a rock band, write songs or compose music for film, or just sing their favorite song of all time, whatever it takes, I will make sure that we get to the musical destination. It's important that each student progresses at their own pace. I always ask my students for one long term goal and one short term goal so that we can cast vision for where we are headed, map out the challenges along the way, but also celebrate the goals that we accomplish especially in the short term. Always start where the student is, and take them from there. Always encourage and inspire students to be better than yesterday. Progress, no matter the amount, is progress. Take your own pace. If you have a specific deadline, for example a college audition, you will have to commit to practicing more than usual and we will create a plan of action. Also, I do write letters of recommendation. Celebrating daily practice to turn goals into accomplishments, I love seeing my students learn, harness their determination to do more, learn more, and I love seeing my students happy with their self-worth. I am a passionate and motivated performer and teacher who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. Performing all over the world has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I have had the opportunity to perform both at the Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium as well as at the Kennedy Center. As a teacher, I have taught since 2008 and have numerous students in different states as well as countries. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet
There are many acceptable method books for beginning students, however, I have found that if a student gets relatively comfortable on their instrument before trying to decipher a grand staff, they seem to enjoy the learning experience more. The hardest part of teaching music, in my opinion, is the educational content that isn't in a method book. Finding someone who can play your instrument better than you can often be more inspirational than finding a new piece that is slightly out of your comfort zone or using a method book that, at the end of the day, is supposed to help a student reach the ability level of the person the student aspires to be.
