I have been teaching young trumpeters since I began my undergraduate career four years ago. I have helped middle school and high school students advance in their own playing career. I love learning about how each student learns, and I've always challenged myself to plan accordingly. My students have been honored not only in their own band programs, but also in Georgia All State Band and DCI. I've had the pleasure of working with students who are all in very different places in their musical development, and I strive to meet them where they're at, and challenge them to be the best musician they can be. Typically when I begin with children I incorporate the Hoffman Method and Books such as the Little Mozarts books, Alfred, Faber and Master Theory. I allow for children to learn fundamentals in a fun way so they can begin to read music and perform if they are interested. Students get to learn the basics like Mary had a little lamb, hot cross buns, jingle bells, and other fun tunes.
