Music is my passion and I love sharing it with others. I've been an instructor for drums and percussion for over twenty years. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, I moved to L.A. where I continued my studies alongside ultra professional drummers Dave Weckl Chad Wackerman. While living in California I was able to gain invaluable experience performing on stage and recording in major studios. After moving back to the east coast I remain active in the music scene local to Baltimore, Maryland as well as playing nationally with groups ranging from Nashville, California and New York. Beginners are mostly taught with alfred lesson books and learning how to position themselves and where the notes on the piano are first. I usually takes time after a few lesson to give them a chart to understand how to read notes, along with flashcards to study at home too. If the child is comfortable, when recitals occur they are able to participate. As far as more advanced students, I pick up where they are currently at and ask what they do know to see what pieces are best and what techniques need improvement. Read More

I work to foster a love of music and a desire to excel in each of my students. I want them to practice because they love it and want to succeed! I also feel that it is important to be a well rounded musician, so we will focus on theory, sight reading, composition, musicianship, performance-practice, and other important and fun aspects of music. I believe that it is important to be grounded in a classical foundation (for both piano and voice students), but I also make sure to bring in pieces of the student's favorite style- which I find helps motivate them to practice and enjoy lessons even more. I like to find out why my students are interested in playing music. This helps me to create a lesson plan for each individual one. I like to start out teaching using Alfred's beginner books, and progress from there. Each student learns at a different pace, so I base my lessons off of their progress.
